If you want to chase power, get the full Akra system and a decent tune, and you'll bump it up another 10+ hp and shave ~20lbs. No, you're not going to beat a V2 or V4 on a fast track, but you'll do well on a technical one, and certainly on any 'real' roads out there you will keep with almost anything, as the guys at places like MCN have commented. The only people that will call an SS 'slow' are those coming from track bikes and super-nakeds it's quick by any other estimation, and five seconds on YouTube will show you plenty of guys putting up impressive track runs on it in Italy.

But the 950s splits that difference like no other bike on sale right now. Sure you can get a faster, more dedicated sports bike. Sure you can get a more comfortable touring bike. He went home and I ended up riding with the group for a few more hours. We hit traffic, twisties, straights, every traffic situation you can think of. I did a group ride with a guy on an R6 a few weeks ago and about 2 hours in, he looked miserable. Now that the bike fits my weight and size and handles the way I like, I just love the little thing. But then I adjusted the suspension and it made me fall in love with the bike. At first, once I got used to it, I instantly wanted to trade it in for a V2. It's a sweetheart of a bike for the street. Ironically, I want a V2, but I think once I pay off my 950s, I might keep it forever. The adjustable Ohlins suspension is great. It's very comfortable for a sports focused bike. It'll keep up with any 600cc crotch rocket. I have 5200 miles (and counting) on a '22 950s.
